Tehrik-i-Taliban Claims Responsibility of Kamra Attack
ATTOCK: The banned outfit Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility of the attack carried out at Kamra Airbase early Thursday morning, Geo News reported.
The spokesman of TTP Ehsanullah Ehsan called local reporters and claimed responsibility of the attack on Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) Minhas airbase at Kamra on Thursday.
The attack was a revenge for the lives of Baitullah Mehsud and Osama Bin Laden, he added.
” We have killed scores of security personnel and have damaged three JF-17 thunder air-crafts,” he added.
Ehsanullah Ehsan said that TTP is proud of this operation and we had decided to attack Kamra base a long time ago.
“We will continue such kinds of attacks on the military installments until the establishment of Islamic rule in the country,” he added
Militants armed with guns and rocket launchers attacked PAF base Kamra and nine attackers and a security official dead while a plane was also damaged.
The Air Force said the attackers with rocket propelled-grenades and suicide vests attacked the base, home to the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex that assembles Mirage and JF-17 fighter jets, at 2:00 am today.
A statement said there had been a shootout "for more than two hours" and 10 hours after the assault began, spokesman Tariq Mahmood confirmed the base was "totally safe".
